Bassenthwaite Lake


Powter Howe is within walking distance of Bassenthwaite Lake - which is ideal for dog walking (and dog swimming), bird watching or just relaxing by with a picnic.

Keswick and Derwent Water


Powter Howe is located 5 miles from Keswick and Derwent Water. The local market town of Keswick has a number of amenities.


Regular buses pass within walking distance of Powter Howe heading to and from Keswick.

Whinlatter is perfect for a little training!

Northern Lake District

Powter Howe is located in the northern Lake District. This is often quieter than the southern Lake District but still has all of the attractions - mountains, lakes and tea rooms. Walks around Buttermere (shown above) are within easy reach from Powter Howe.

Winter in the Lake District can bring its own benefits.
